Gifts for a Mother

Here in the UK we celebrate Mother’s Day this year on the 19th March. As a mother myself I would be very satisfied with a cup of tea and cuddle from my kids - but - sometimes it is nice to buy a gift too. I’ve selected five gifts from our shop I think would be lovely for Mother’s Day.

  1. Essential Oil Diffuser

Launching at 10am on Sunday 12th March, this piece is part of our BATCH series in which we respond to our design briefs and challenges in order to create a new product. This is a special edition and would be a very lovely gift for someone who loves scent and minimal, simple objects.

2. A Colourful Espresso

We’ve recently started making our espresso cups (3oz or 90ml) in the pale clay over which the glazes are so bright and colourful. They’re very sweet and cheerful - an ideal present for someone who drinks espresso.

3. A tool for floral beauty

These ikebana snips from Niwaki are very calming to use. Gather some stems from the garden and make an arrangement - it’s a really relaxing activity.

4. A Jenny Bowl

This bowl is named after Matt’s mum. She is an excellent cook and collector of objects too! (Also a wonderful artist, if you didn't already know). The bowls are an offering of personality and an exploration of playfulness - each one is distinct, full of undulating and distinct throwing lines.

5. For a baker

Our 750ml lidded jars are perfect for keeping a sourdough starter in (interestingly many bakers also call this the ‘mother’). A special gift for any bread baking mothers out there.
